A relaxing event for people to sit and chat. We will have a wonderful assortment of desserts and vegetarian goodies to snack on, in addition to after-dinner drinks and liqueurs.

The above map is correct.
AIRPORT:
The nearest airport is the San Jose Airport, but the San Francisco and Oakland airports are also within driving distance (I wouldn't recommend taking a cab from them -- it would be pricey). If you are flying from out of town and would like someone to pick you up at the airport, please contact Alison or Frank at shoyusumi@yahoo.com, cell phone: (408) 832-6942 and we'll be able to arrange a ride for you. We're also looking into shuttle service to the beach for the barbecue; we'll keep you posted.

WEATHER:
Campbell in July and August averages a high of 85ºF and low of 55ºF, with a record high of 113ºF. Rain is improbable, with an average July rainfall of 0.06 in.
ATTIRE:
Probably the immediate family will be dressed up, but we're trying to make this a casual event. After all, it's summertime in sunny California, so it's going to be HOT HOT HOT. Wear whatever makes you comfortable.
August 1, 2004 in Santa Cruz, CA:
Barbecue: 11 AM - 5 PM at Natural Bridges State Park (NOTE: CHANGE IN VENUE)

Relax in the California sun with some good company and some good eats. We are looking into getting a shuttle service from the Pruneyard Inn in Campbell to Santa Cruz. I don't want to scare out-of-towners, but even most locals don't like driving the windy, twisty roads of Highway 17 to the coast. Even if you have a rental car, you might prefer to ride with us.
We will provide parking vouchers, sunscreen, food and drinks; all you need to bring is yourself, a bathing suit, and a towel. There are changing rooms at the beach connected to the restrooms.
For guests who have kids, a word of warning: waves can be large and very strong, and there are rocks just offshore, so please be sure to supervise any activities of your children in the water. There are also large sheets of seaweed in the water which are seasonal and can make swimming difficult.
In the afternoon during low tide, we will organize a group to take a stroll along the cliffside rocks (to the left, not in the picture above) to explore the tide pools. A perfect activity for kids, or for the big kid inside, there are usually tons of shell-toting crabs, starfish, anemones, and even small fish. I'm sure I won Frank's heart when I took him on a date to this very beach to explore these same tide pools...
Map of the town of Santa Cruz and surrounding area:

Where oh where will the purple arrows lead...?
Driving directions from the Pruneyard Inn:
Turn left onto Bascom Avenue.
At the second stoplight, turn left onto Hamilton Avenue.
Take Highway 17 South towards Santa Cruz.
Continue on Highway 17 for about 30 miles through the Santa Cruz Mountains.
Take the Highway 1 North exit.
Highway 1 will turn into Mission Street; take a right onto Mission Street.
Take a left onto Swift Street.
Swift Street will end at W. Cliff Drive; turn right.
W. Cliff Drive will end at the entrance to Natural Bridges State Beach
We will be giving out free parking vouchers for the beach at the reception and at the barbecue. If you don't have a voucher when you arrive at the beach, just come and find us and we'll give you one (otherwise the parking is $6 -- free is much better!).
QUESTIONS?
We'll be adding more info to the website -- please check back for fun stuff like more wedding pictures. But if you have a question, please drop us a line or give us a call, because the most important thing is to have you here with us in July!
