JACKALOPES

Jackalope, offspring of the jackrabbit and antelope, which only mate during lightning storms.

Postcard: Smith-Southwestern, Inc., Tempe, AZ

The postcard notes: "Rumor has it that the Jackalope sings at night in a voice that sounds almost human."

Charles Kuralt has a very funny story about jackalopes, jackalope hunting licenses, and an 80-foot-tall jackalope sculpture in Douglas, Wyoming, in On the Road with Charles Kuralt, 1985 (1986), Ballantine, p. 146.

We also hear that jackalopes big enough to ride may be found at the Wildlife Exhibit in Dubois, WY, and at Wall Drug in Wall, SD.
