Really a beautiful cover. A classic cigar-shaped spaceship design, with bold colorful lines, patches of detail to contrast the smooth metal skin, and wonderful lights in rhythmic repetition. All that, set at a dramatic angle, plunging headlong into a harbor. A simple but dramatic and powerful piece. I was literally stunned when I came upon the original magazine in a store.
Paul revisited this idea for Dynamic Science Stories in 1939, but, despite a second spaceship, it somehow lacked the original's clarity of vision, sharpness and purpose. - F.W.
